hp announced today in its Third Quarter 2011 Results that it will be shutting down operations for all of its webOS devices (ie: smart phones and TouchPad tablets). See here for more info. They also announced that they will begin the “evaluation of strategic alternatives for its Personal Systems Group (PSG).” In plain English, this indicates that they’re looking to sell off their division that makes personal computers, which incidentally, they had purchased from Compaq a few years back.
